Frequently Asked Questions

At PowerBanks.ie, we often get asked about airline rules, charging speeds, device compatibility, and which power bank is best for travel, camping, festivals, or everyday use. To make things simple, we have answered the most common questions we receive from customers in Ireland.

Do you deliver power banks across Ireland?

Yes, we deliver throughout Ireland using An Post. Most orders arrive within 1–2 working days, depending on your location. In many cases, delivery is next working day. Orders placed before 3:30pm are normally dispatched the same day.

How fast will my order arrive?

Most orders arrive within 1–2 working days through An Post. Delivery times can vary slightly depending on your location and the time the order is placed.

Are power banks safe to bring on planes?

Power banks are generally permitted on flights when they meet the airline’s battery limits. They must be carried in your hand luggage and must never be placed in checked baggage.

Most airlines allow power banks rated up to 100Wh per unit, which is approximately 27,000mAh when calculated using a typical 3.7V battery voltage. Larger-capacity models may exceed airline limits, so you should always check the capacity printed on your power bank and confirm the latest rules with your airline before travelling.

Can you bring a power bank on Ryanair and Aer Lingus?

Yes, Ryanair and Aer Lingus allow power banks in cabin baggage when they meet the applicable battery limits. Power banks must not be packed in checked luggage.

As a general rule, power banks rated up to 100Wh per unit are normally permitted. This is approximately 27,000mAh at 3.7V. Power banks above this capacity may not be accepted.

Before travelling, read our complete Ryanair and Aer Lingus power bank rules guide and check your model using our Irish Airline Power Bank Checker ✈️.

Airline policies can change, so always confirm the current rules directly with your airline before departure.

Which power bank is best for camping or festivals?

For camping trips, hiking, or festivals in Ireland, we recommend choosing a high-capacity power bank between 20,000mAh and 50,000mAh. These models can keep phones, speakers, earbuds, and tablets charged for longer periods away from a socket.

What power bank should I bring to Electric Picnic?

For a weekend festival such as Electric Picnic, a high-capacity power bank between 20,000mAh and 50,000mAh is normally the most practical choice. It gives you enough capacity for photos, maps, festival apps, messages, mobile payments, and emergency calls throughout the weekend.

Which power bank is best for daily commuting?

A 10,000mAh power bank is ideal for commuting and everyday use. It is compact, light to carry, and normally provides around 1–2 full smartphone charges, depending on your phone’s battery size and charging efficiency.

Can I charge my laptop with a power bank?

Yes, but you need a power bank with enough USB-C Power Delivery output for your laptop. We stock high-output models with up to 100W USB-C PD, which are suitable for many modern laptops and MacBooks.

See our 20,000mAh 100W laptop power bank here.

Do your power banks work with iPhone and Android?

Yes, our portable chargers work with iPhone, Samsung, Huawei, Google Pixel, and most other Android devices. Simply use the correct charging cable, or choose one of our models with built-in cables for added convenience.

If you also need to protect your phone,  BuyCases.ie stocks Magsafe friendly iPhone cases and Samsung phone cases which we use to test all our magsafe units.

How many times can a power bank charge a phone?

The number of charges depends on the power bank’s usable capacity, your phone’s battery size, cable quality, and normal energy loss during charging.

A 10,000mAh power bank will normally provide around 1.5–2 full charges for many modern smartphones, while a 20,000mAh model can often provide approximately 3–4 full charges. Larger phones with bigger batteries may receive fewer full charges.

Do your power banks come with a warranty?

Yes, all our power banks come with a 3-month warranty covering manufacturing faults. Batteries naturally lose capacity gradually over time, but we will assist you if the product develops a genuine fault during the warranty period.

What is the difference between fast charging and normal charging?

Fast-charging power banks use higher output levels, such as 18W, 20W, 22.5W, 30W, 65W, or 100W USB-C Power Delivery, to charge compatible devices more quickly.

The actual charging speed depends on the power bank, your device, and the cable being used. To receive fast charging, all three must support a compatible fast-charging standard.

Do you ship to the EU, USA, and Canada?

International shipping availability and pricing depend on the destination, package weight, battery capacity, and courier restrictions for lithium batteries.

Are your power banks safe to use?

Our power banks are designed with safety features such as protection against overcharging, overheating, excessive current, and short circuits. Always use the power bank with suitable cables and chargers, avoid exposing it to heat or moisture, and stop using it immediately if the casing becomes swollen, damaged, or unusually hot.

What size power bank is right for me?

Smaller 5,000mAh to 10,000mAh models are suitable for everyday top-ups and commuting. A 20,000mAh model is better for travel, work trips, laptops, or several days of heavier phone use.

Models between 30,000mAh and 50,000mAh are better suited to festivals, camping, longer trips, and charging multiple devices. Very large units such as 120,000mAh models are intended for heavy off-grid use rather than normal everyday carrying or air travel.

If you are unsure which model is suitable, email us at hello@powerbanks.ie and we will recommend an option based on your devices and intended use.

Will a magnetic phone charger work with my phone?

A magnetic wireless power bank will work when your phone supports Qi wireless charging. Phones with built-in MagSafe or compatible magnetic charging will attach directly.

For other wireless-charging phones, our magnetic power banks may include a magnetic ring that can be attached to the phone or case to improve alignment.

Thick cases, wallet cases, metal plates, and cases containing metal can weaken the magnetic connection or interfere with wireless charging.

What phone case works best with a MagSafe power bank?

A slim MagSafe-compatible case normally provides the strongest magnetic hold and the most reliable wireless charging performance. A normal slim case may also work when used with a suitable magnetic ring, but thick or metal-lined cases can interfere with charging.

Our recommended store for phone cases, BuyCases.ie stocks protective Magsafe ready phone cases for popular iPhone and Samsung models, with fast delivery from within Ireland.

Do power banks come with cables?

Some models include built-in charging cables, while others include a short USB charging cable in the box. You can also use your own compatible cable or purchase a multi-cable for additional device compatibility.

Can I return a power bank if I am not happy?

Yes, unused power banks can be returned in their original packaging within 31 days. Contact us before returning the item and we will provide the appropriate return instructions.

Do you offer bulk or business pricing?

Yes, PowerBanks.ie supplies Irish companies, schools, events, organisations, and promotional campaigns with power banks in bulk.

Discounts are available from 5 or more units, and we can provide receipts or invoices for company records.

Are solar power banks useful in Ireland?

Solar power banks can be useful for camping, hiking, festivals, and emergency backup. However, the small solar panels fitted to portable power banks recharge very slowly, particularly in Irish weather.

The solar feature should be treated as an emergency or backup charging option. For normal use, fully charge the power bank from a wall charger before leaving home.

See our full solar power bank range here.

Will your power banks work with my device?

If your device charges through USB-A, USB-C, Lightning, Micro-USB, or wireless Qi charging, there is likely a compatible power bank available. Our models can charge smartphones, tablets, earbuds, speakers, cameras, handheld gaming devices, and selected laptops.

Check the power requirements and charging connection of your device before ordering. Contact us if you need help confirming compatibility.

Do you offer wireless charging power banks?

Yes, we stock wireless and magnetic power banks that work with compatible Qi-enabled devices, including supported iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones.

See our wireless charging power banks here.

Why should I buy from PowerBanks.ie instead of a large marketplace?

PowerBanks.ie is an Irish online store specialising in portable charging products. Orders ship from within Ireland, with fast nationwide delivery and direct customer support.

Unlike large marketplaces containing thousands of unrelated sellers and products, our range is selected specifically around practical charging needs such as commuting, travel, festivals, camping, laptops, MagSafe charging, and high-capacity backup power.

Are power banks charged when you buy them?

Most power banks arrive partially charged, commonly at approximately 40–60%. This is normal because lithium batteries are generally stored and transported at a partial charge rather than being kept completely full.

We recommend fully charging your new power bank before relying on it for travel, work, camping, or a festival.
